In the heart of Berlin lies a theater with more than 100 years of history – home to breathtaking performances and a stage for artists from all over the world – Friedrichstadt-Palast. Marlene Dietrich’s star rose on its stage. In 1922, 19-year-old Marlene Dietrich auditioned and got her first role at the Grand Theater – in Shakespeare’s play “The Taming of the Shrew”. In 8 months, she took part in 92 performances, mostly in the extras. Her star began to shine brighter and brighter after Max Reinhard entrusted the management of Friedrichstadt-Palast to the legendary Eric Charel – the director, thanks to whom Broadway splendor also illuminated the Berlin stage. For the first time, a Bulgarian team enters the theater’s archives, takes a peek behind the scenes and meets people who know its history well.
