Frank R. Lautenberg Rail Station is a 2D animated piece that utilizes a limited color palette to visualize the music.
The original composition was developed in transit which informed the road and rail imagery. Working closely with the composer, Skyler Hagner, Hillary Carrigan created a minimalist animated piece that visually transcribes the music. It aims to pay homage to Oskar Fischinger, a German-American artist active during the early twentieth-century. Fischinger developed a legendary musical animation style characterized by stop motion colors and shapes. His abstract style was revolutionary considering the concept of music videos themselves had yet to be popularized.
