Recognised by his peers as a pioneering aviator, a hero of the French airmail service and a great writer rewarded by prestigious literary awards, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry acquired worldwide recognition with his story written especially for children, “The Little Prince” for which he also did the illustrations.

During the long hours spent in the cockpit, flying through the different skies, real and imaginary, above the desert, Saint-Exupéry had all the time in the world to reflect on the state of the world and “mankind”. He was also confronted with himself. The storms he braved ignited the internal storms of a man who was both a combatant and a sensitive hero.

But what was he looking for amidst such violent elements? What was the nature of his quest? What was he really made of? Why does Saint-Exupéry fascinate us so long after his death? Deep down, what kind of a man and hero really was Saint-Exupéry.

This film explores the writer-explorer’s personal and spiritual adventure. He paints the portrait of an idealist, one of the last romantics. Saint-Exupéry is a symbol of strength and fragility, and that is what makes him so interesting. His adventure is captivating. His ideas are universal and full of hope, touching all of humankind, every culture.
